Olmsted
Taproot Construction was selected to provide earth retention services for the Olmsted Savannah project, a luxury mid-rise multifamily development located in Savannah, Georgia’s vibrant historic district. To support the construction of a below-grade basement level, Taproot installed a temporary driven soldier pile and lagging shoring system encompassing all four sides of the excavation.
The support of excavation totaled approximately 8,900 square feet and retained cuts ranging from 11 to 13 feet below existing grade. Soldier piles were driven using a hydraulic hammer and installed to the required tip elevation to provide full support during excavation. As the soil was excavated in five-foot lifts, timber lagging was installed between the piles to maintain earth retention and protect adjacent structures and utilities.
Working in a dense urban environment with historic sensitivity, Taproot delivered a reliable and efficient temporary shoring solution that supported the project team through a critical phase of construction.
